In The Mail {15} - New Books from OUP

This week I have been on work placement at OUP (Oxford University Press) and I have some exciting firsthand news to tell you!

It has been an amazing week and I have been spoiled with ARCs (Advanced Reader's Copy), first view of book covers, and manuscripts before they even become finalized books. Needless to say, I'm having a ball!

Ok, so these didn't necessarily come in the mail, but I have just received them so...

Vanish is the second book on Sophie Jordan's Firelight series. You can read my review of Firelight, the first book, here. Get this (and you are forgiven for thinking I'm a complete geek, but hey! Geek is the new chic): I have been given the manuscript!!! So exciting! Vanish is due for release in September.

Seeking Crystal is Joss Stirling's third book in the Benedict series and I'm taking home an ARC. If you haven't read this series yet, you need to. You can read my review of Finding Sky, the first book, here and Stealing Phoenix, the second, hereSeeking Crystal hits the shelves on the 16th of October.

On another note, how gorgeous are these covers?!?

I'm also taking home Matt Dickinson's second book on the Mortal Chaos series - Deep Oblivion. I have indeed been spoiled rotten. I know... I'm easily pleased. :) The world of a book lover is a buzzing but beautiful and easy world to live in.

Moving on... You might remember me choosing Dave Cousins' 15 Days Without a Head as the best book I read in 2011 (read this article here and the book review here).Well... He has another book on the pipeline due for release in 2013. I can't tell you much about it as the final draft is being read by its editor as we speak, but it's called Waiting for Gonzo and it involves fake moustaches. The cover looks really cool too and if it's anything like Dave's first book, it will be hillarious! You will hear about its publishing date and a cover reveal as soon as I have it. I'm also working on hosting an exclusive teaser and an interview with Dave himself, so watch this space!

There are some amazing titles published by OUP, watch out for the published ones and for upcoming books. Hopefully, I will be able to name a few of the upcoming ones for you, but at the moment some of them are a work in progress. One thing is certain: It will be quite interesting to see the manuscripts I read during my two weeks placement as published books and know I was there when they were just a baby.
