Bel Ami is the film adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's French novel Bel Ami. If you are a Twilight fan, this is the cad side of Robert Pattinson. You guessed it. Where there are cads, there are also sex scenes so this film is a Certificate 15 - slightly older than the Twilight movie market.

John Carter is Disney's film adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' John Carter of Mars collection. In case you never heard of him, he's the guy who wrote Tarzan. Definitely worth a look if you're a book lover.

The Raven uses the life and work of American poet, writer, editor and critic Edgar Allan Poe as inspiration. Poe is considered to be the inventor of detective fiction as a genre and was one of the earliest writers to use short stories in America. The film tells the story of a Poe in love who has a psychopath copycat using the macabre stories in his detective novels as an inspiration for his gruesome crimes. Very interesting. Not to mention the amazing posters!

Trishna is the adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles and it sounds ultra fascinating and heart breaking. Out of all the movies I think this is the one I will definitely go and see. However is only available in key cities so I might have to go to London for this one.
The love story in between a young wealthy British businessman who, upon arriving in India to run his father's business, falls in love with an Indian villager - Trishna. She, in turn, is torn in between her love for him, the traditions of her family life and the dreams and ambitions that her new found education has given her.

In Darkness is the Polish Oscar nominated film adaptation of Robert Marshall's In the Sewers of Lvov and it tells the true story of a sewer maintenance man who uses his knowledge of the sewers to hide a group of Jews during the Holocaust. Gripping and heart breaking. There is also The Girl In The Green Sweater: A Life In Holocaust's Shadow - the memoir of Krystyna Chiger, the only living survivor of the group, which is not connected to this film, but is connected to the story.
We Bought a Zoo is based on the memoirs of Benjamin Mee. Heart warming and sweet. Aw!

The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists is the only family film being released this month. It's based on the first of two books in The Pirates! series by British author Gideon Defoe. Funny and from the same producers of Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit, this movie does sound promising; if not ever so slightly silly. But hey, kids love silly.
